Making Choices, Be Intentional

The book of Ecclesiastes is a biblical ancient diary that narrates a litany of King Solomon’s escapades. Nevertheless, amid his wealth of encounters and exploits, he never ceased to remind us of the vanity of human existence. Eccl 1:2 vanity of vanity, all is vanity.

Our world today, our experiences are not different from the experiences that pushed the wise Solomon to make the clarion call for a perfect picture of the meaninglessness of life. All our efforts to discover meaning in this life are barren and meaningless, apart from a life that is hinged in God through Christ. For apart from Christ, we can do nothing John 15:5. Nothing in this life can satisfy the ultimate desire of our soul. Thus, our hearts are restless till they rest in Christ Jesus our Lord and savior. Conceivably, here comes the precise consequences of our sinful nature. We have sinned and come short of God's glory Rom 3:23. Our imperfection is at a level that inhibits us from fathoming what God had planned for us at the beginning of time.

In all of these, we are deeply convinced in our inner being that perfection is real in our sojourn out of this world and into our eternal home. Our Lord and master speak to this our yearning by urging us “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28). Jesus Christ's invitation requires us to stop our exhausting, unintentional search and instead discover our peace in Him. For in this lies the perfect message to our souls. All in all, whenever we are wise enough to make him the ultimate focus of our desire, it is only then that our life will become meaningful and peaceful. Shalom.
