What is in your hand?

When God first met Moses on Mt. Horeb, Moses gave God all the reasons why he wasn’t qualified to lead God’s people out of bondage, and the Lord’s answer to him was, “What is that in your hand?” (Exodus 4:2). God didn’t ask Moses, “What is in your wallet” “What’s your highest level of education, “Who is your family?” or, “What is your net worth?” When David heard the nine-foot tall giant hurling insults against God, he didn’t ask for a heavy armor; in fact, he turned it down (1 Sam 17:40). He chose instead what he could fit in his hand, five smooth stones and a slingshot. And when the little boy in a crowd of more than 5,000 people heard that there wasn’t enough food for lunch, he gave what was in his hand—five loaves and two small fish (John 6:9). Moses had a stick, David had a stone, and the little boy had bread. And yet it was a stick with the mighty power of God that parted the Red Sea, a stone propelled by the power of the Holy Spirit that fell a loud-mouthed giant, and five loaves of bread and two fish multiplied by the Master that fed a multitude. God could do it Himself, but He wants you and your hands. What’s in your hand? Will you offer to Him what you have so He’ll use it to accomplish mighty things?
